Core Materials
SCORED FOAM CORE
Baltek Airlite® 5 lb. PVC foam core is the
same type of drapable sheet as balsa core, except it is made
from 3/8”, 1/2”, and 3/4” thick PVC foam
blocks, 1” x 2”, to create a 24” x 42”
drapable sheet. Airlite foam core is about half the weight
of CK100 balsa core 1/4 to 1/3 as strong in sheer, compression,
and bond strenghts. Commonly used for coring in hulls and
decks on boats. Even though it is 1/4 to 1/3 the strength
of balsa, it is still an extremely strong core material suitable
for most marine applications.
